The world has been plagued from time to time by some doctrines that have lost their relevance, become too dogmatic and need to be changed. The change that is required is brought about by someone who is able to perceive these and has the inclination and courage to endeavor to motivate others and bring about a change. These persons are called reformers and this book is about twenty such courageous persons. Today the changes that they brought seem of little significance but during their time, they were momentous. It is essential to know and realize who they were and what they did. From this perspective, this book is important for we should know that the world that we live in was shaped by the changes these persons had fought for and the amendments in law brought through their efforts.
