Educated at Benares and Allahabad, Professor Raghuveer Singh (1929-2012) was Professor and Head, Department of Political Science, and Dean, Faculty of Arts, at the University of Gorakhpur. He had an exceptionally brilliant academic career with a consistent first class to his credit from High School to Post-graduation, and secured first division and stood first in the order of merit in M.A. (Political Science) from the University of Allahabad in the year 1950. For many years, he was associated with the activities of University Grants Commission (UGC), Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), and the Board of High School and Intermediate Examination of U.P. Besides being the President of the Indian Political Science Association, he was the recipient of President S. Radhakrishnan Award (1985) and Swami Pranavananda Award of U.G.C. (1990) for outstanding constitution in political science. He had to his credit a wide range of essay/articles in political theory, which received world-wide recognition and placed him as a creative thinker in political philosophy.
