तेजगुरु सरश्री की आध्यात्मिक खोज उनके बचपन से प्रारंभ हो गई थी। अपने आध्यात्मिक अनुसंधान में लीन होकर उन्होंने अनेक ध्यान-पद्धतियों का अभ्यास किया। उनकी इसी खोज ने उन्हें विविध वैचारिक और शैक्षणिक संस्थानों की ओर अग्रसर किया।
सत्य की खोज में अधिक-से-अधिक समय व्यतीत करने की प्यास ने उन्हें अपना तत्कालीन अध्यापन कार्य त्याग देने के लिए प्रेरित किया। जीवन का रहस्य समझने के लिए उन्होंने एक लंबी अवधि तक मनन करते हुए अपना अन्वेषण जारी रखा, जिसके अंत में उन्हें आत्मबोध प्राप्त हुआ। आत्म-साक्षात्कार के बाद उन्हें यह अनुभव हुआ कि सत्य के अनेक मार्गों की लुप्त कड़ी है—समझ (Understanding)।
सरश्री कहते हैं कि सत्य के सभी मार्गों का प्रारंभ अलग-अलग प्रकार से होता है, किंतु सबका अंत इसी ‘समझ’ से होता है। ‘समझ’ ही सबकुछ है और यह ‘समझ’ अपने आप में संपूर्ण है। अध्यात्म के लिए इस ‘समझ’ का श्रवण ही पर्याप्त है।
सरश्री ने दो हजार से अधिक प्रवचन दिए हैं और सत्तर से अधिक पुस्तकों की रचना की है। ये पुस्तकें दस से अधिक भाषाओं में अनूदित हैं और प्रमुख प्रकाशकों द्वारा प्रकाशित की गई हैं।
