He was born in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh on 18 November 1933. He completed schooling in Varanasi and Gorakhpur. He joined National Defence Academy at the age of sixteen years. Soon after his commission he did B.A. and M.A. privately in English literature.Literature has been a passion with him from the school days. Through out his service of more than 35 years, he spent his leisure time in pursuit of literature along with social sciences and philosophy. He was known in the army for writing on military subjects. It is after his retirement that he took to writing fiction.
The author has travelled widely in the country. The knowledge of English gave him the opportunity of reading the best writers in the world and grasp their technique. He has made full use of his experience and long years of learning. His stories are endearing and appealing.
The author is fluent in Hindi and English. His two books in Hindi—Shreshtha Sainik Kahaniyan and Anupam Kahaniyan have already been published and have been appreciated by the readers.
